While Apple's recently launched iPhone 17 series has gained a positively overwhelming reception wherever it reached, a wave of backlash is emerging as far as the iPhone 17 Pro's alleged discolouring is concerned, particularly the Cosmic Orange variant.
Reports making rounds online are claiming that Apple’s Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro is discolouring to a pink hue, as highlighted by a Reddit user.
While the dazzling new shade was a primary selling point of the revamped iPhone 17 Pro line, it looks like the vibrant orange has faded, for at least one owner.
A Reddit user, with the moniker "DakAttack316", showcased images of a Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max in a post, revealing that the metal elements of the casing have changed into a deep pink hue, Apple Insider reported.
As depicted in the photos, most metal edges are affected, while areas like the sunken edge of the camera bump remain a faded orange.
The interesting part is that the large rear panel has retained its bright orange colour, likely meaning that the issue is confined to the metal components.
It's worth noting that the Redditor did not provide an explanation for this colour change, and while the authenticity of the images is in question, they are claimed to be genuine.
Apple has historically faced similar issues, such as "Bendgate" and scratching problems with previous models.
If the discolouration problem in iPhone 17 Pro is real, it could be because of oxidation, which typically occurs over time, making this rapid change unusual.
