Following a public outrage over heavy e-challan fees recently imposed in Karachi, the Sindh government has confirmed that e-challan fines in Karachi will remain unchanged.

With the public demanding reductions, Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah reiterated that these penalties specifically target Karachi residents and will remain in effect as planned, underscoring the city's commitment to effective traffic management and urban governance.

The e-challan system was reportedly implemented to address traffic violations, but has faced criticism over high fines. The issue has also sparked political debate.

Shah called for cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure Karachi's development and the effective enforcement of regulations.

“Reducing fines will not happen. Our focus is on empowering local bodies and ensuring residents follow rules for a safer, better-managed city,” he remarked.

The government is said to be practising vigilance in monitoring the e-challan system while upholding its strict enforcement policy to improve traffic discipline and urban services.

This approach is believed to create a safer environment for all residents and enhance the overall quality of life in Karachi.
