Islamabad on Wednesday announced an expansion in its M-Tag installation centres from seven to ten after seeing an extraordinary public rush, with 2,244 tags issued in just 24 hours.

The federal government said that this move aims to ease congestion as mandatory vehicle tagging continues across all entry points of Islamabad. Officials noted that the increasing turnout made it essential to widen the network and enhance processing speed.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed the expansion, stating that the new facilitation points would help distribute the load more evenly. Deputy commissioner urged citizens to visit after 6pm to prevent peak-hour crowds, adding that the administration is working to streamline the process as much as possible.
