With the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led protest around the corner, the government of Pakistan is eyeing the suspension of mobile and internet services in parts of Pakistan from November 23, 2024.

According to reports, the areas most likely to be affected by the mobile service downgrade include Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and some other parts of Punjab.

Mobile and internet service will be suspended in parts of Pakistan

The service disruption will purportedly be triggered by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) activating the firewall on mobile and internet services.

Expected to result in impeded internet speeds, enabling the firewall might as well make users face the inability to download audio and videos on major social media apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.

It was also learned that due to the magnitude of the PTI power show, the authorities could expand the mobile and internet services suspension to other parts of the country any time following November 23.
