The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has announced that the country’s airspace shall remain closed for two days starting October 28, issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to all airlines and aviation companies.
Regarding the duration of the airspace suspension, the NOTAM explained that the airspace will be closed on October 28 and 29 between 6:00am and 9:00am.
While flight operations would be disrupted during the three-hour airspace shutdown, commercial flights have been advised to exercise caution during this period.
Citing sources, Geo.TV reported that this decision is likely prompted by military exercises being conducted by Indian forces near the border.
It was also reported that specific routes for commercial flights in the Karachi and Lahore flight regions will be restricted during these hours.
Given the airspace cessation, airlines are expected to adjust their schedules accordingly to accommodate the temporary closure. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates and potential changes to their flight itineraries.
Pakistan's airspace closure measure reflects efforts to ensure the safety and security of air travel in the region amid ongoing military activities nearby.
