The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), has issued a public warning to job seekers in Pakistan and abroad, with respect to fraudulent job offers and visa scams.
These scams typically involve phoney recruitment agents who, for example, claim to represent UAE employers, and falsely request advanced payments by the job seeker for a visa or work permit.
The MoHRE states that all valid job offers in the UAE are subject to a legitimate process in their official system, which includes a verified work entry permit.
The Ministry advised Pakistanis looking for jobs in the UAE to confirm all the details and facts before sending money.
“If someone offers you a job in the UAE, make sure it comes through MoHRE,” the ministry stated. “Working on a tourist or visit visa is illegal and can lead to fines or legal action.”
Key tips for Pakistani job seekers
To avoid recruitment scams, MoHRE shared a list of precautionary steps:
- Verify the job offer: Confirm that it is from the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (MoHRE) and is signed by the official employer.
- Check offer authenticity: Verify the offer number at the MoHRE website, under the “Application Status Inquiry” feature.
- Entry permits: Make sure your work entry permit is done through MoHRE, instead of getting it through a travel agent.
- Never work on a tourist visa: Working under a tourist or visit visa is totally prohibited.
- Never pay an upfront fee: Employers must pay recruitment fees under UAE law.
- Verify your visa and the company: For Dubai, use the GDRFA website, and for other Emirates, check the ICP eChannels.
- Avoid middle agents: Only work with UAE authorised recruiters or employers.
This is a warning under the MoHRE “Zero Bureaucracy” initiative, which seeks to protect foreign workers, make applying for a job more accessible, and provide more transparency.
