While the nation continues to bear the brunt of persistent internet slowdowns caused by multiple submarine cable cuts, the IT ministry has announced that Pakistan will be connected to three new submarine cables within the next 12 to 18 months.

The new submarine connections are expected to set aside Pakistan's long-standing slow internet woes. This good news was shared in a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, TechJuice reported that agreements to bring these cables to Pakistan have been finalised, setting the stage for enhanced internet infrastructure in the country by providing direct connections to Europe.

Not only will Pakistan's new submarine projects improve internet speeds nationwide, but they will also help reduce reliance on the limited existing routes.

IT Secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan highlighted that the new submarine cables will jack up bandwidth capacity while providing a more resilient internet service for users nationwide.

Sadiq Memon, a member of the Standing Committee on IT, raised concerns about current internet issues, and the ministry assured him that the introduction of these submarine cables would address ongoing connectivity challenges.

The initiative is expected to improve the overall quality and reliability of the internet services across Pakistan.
