
Pakistan's first artificial intelligence (AI) university is set to open its doors in Lahore, marking a significant milestone in the country's journey towards AI excellence, as announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The CM Punjab revealed this initiative in a ceremony celebrating the achievements of top-performing students from Punjab Boards.
The CM stated: “This announcement comes on the heels of a major development earlier this year when the IT City project received the green light from the Punjab government in March. The ambitious IT City project, spanning an impressive 853 acres (equivalent to 6,824 kanals), is strategically situated near the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore. This expansive development is poised to become a hub for technological innovation and education in the region.”

The Punjab Chief Minister announced an aspiring scholarship program with a substantial budget of Rs25 billion. This initiative focuses on offering talented students access to education at some of the country’s most respected institutions, such as LUMS, IBA, COMSATS, and FAST, among others.
CM highlighted the program’s potential impact on youth employment. She expressed confidence that students who get IT skills through this initiative will face majorly reduced job search times.
The CM said: “After gaining these IT skills, young people will not have to wander. They will find jobs quickly.”
