Signalling strong global recognition for Pakistan’s tech talent, Securiti AI, a cybersecurity and data protection startup founded by Pakistani entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, has been acquired by data-resilience firm Veeam for around $1.7 billion.
This deal is one of the biggest exits by a Pakistani founder in Silicon Valley and highlights the growing global power of Pakistani talent in AI and cloud security.
Securiti AI
Securiti AI builds next-generation data security and AI governance tools which allow companies to effectively find, secure and control their data across cloud platforms and applications.
Its flagship product, the Data Command Center, helps organisations manage privacy, regulatory compliance, and AI security risks.
In accordance with the agreement, Jalil will become the President of Security and AI at Veeam after the deal is complete later in the year.
The deal includes both cash and shares in the company and will be consummated once regulatory approval is obtained.
According to Veeam, the combined technology offered by Securiti will greatly enhance its data protection capabilities as organisations expand their usage of AI.
The firm intends to integrate the privacy, governance and AI-trust technology into its existing backup and recovery technology ecosystem to demonstrate that data at the enterprise level is secure, compliant and recoverable.
Industry experts claim the purchase comes at a much-needed time when businesses around the world are looking for tools to ensure the responsible and legal use of AI systems for data processing.
