The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government is anticipated to drop petroleum prices in Pakistan from August 1, 2025, aiming to provide a slight relief to consumers.

According to a report by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), petroleum prices are expected to see a decrease of Rs9 to Rs10 per litre in the next fortnightly review.

Petrol price is likely to see a drop of Rs9.07 per litre, while high-speed diesel could be decreased by Rs3.73 per litre.

Following approval from the prime minister, the Ministry of Finance is set to issue an official notification regarding the new prices on July 31, 2025.

However, if the government increases the levy on petroleum products, it may reduce the level of relief that the public receives from the price reduction.
