The Sindh government has officially announced an increase in minimum wage, which will now be Rs40,000 per month for unskilled workers across the province, with the revised rates taking effect from July 1, 2025.

Provincial Minister for Labour Shahid Thahim said that the revised wages will apply to both registered and unregistered industrial and commercial establishments operating in Sindh.

According to the notification, the monthly wage for semi-skilled workers has been fixed at Rs41,380, while skilled workers will now earn Rs49,628 per month.

On the other hand, the highest category of highly skilled workers will be entitled to a monthly wage of Rs51,745.

“This is a major step towards protecting the rights of labourers and ensuring fair compensation in light of rising inflation and economic pressures,” said Thahim.

He emphasised that all employers must comply with the new wage structure without exception. According to the minister, the minimum hourly wage for all categories of labour has been set at Rs192.

Thahim stated that the wage revision is designed to facilitate and mitigate the economic impact of inflation and support a dignified livelihood for workers.

He assured that the labour department is actively interacting with industrialists, ensuring strict compliance with labour laws throughout the province.
