Punjab Traffic Police has increased efforts to prevent underage driving across the province and has taken 62% more actions against underage drivers compared to last year.

According to the data, 480,000 underage drivers have been fined in Lahore and other parts of Punjab this year, up from an astounding 296,000 last year.

Road accidents driven by underage driving have also increased significantly in recent years, resulting in both property damage and fatalities, according to Punjab traffic officials.

To stop this risky practice, they added, "Cases are being registered against underage drivers, and surety bonds are also being taken from parents."

The increasing number of cases involving underage drivers emphasises how serious the problem is and how parents must accept accountability for their children's behaviour.

The traffic police department is urging parents to ensure their kids are following traffic laws and regulations and aren't operating motor vehicles without a valid licence.

To prevent injuries and fatalities in the event of an accident, the department also emphasises the importance of wearing seat belts and helmets.

In order to make the roads safer, the public is urged to assist the authorities and report any instances of underage driving to the traffic police.
