Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the province's first "High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Financing Programme Portal," a digital platform set up to modernise agriculture by offering interest-free loans of up to Rs30 million for high-tech farm machinery.

The provincial agriculture secretary said the loans—available for 12 categories of high-tech farm implements—are accompanied by a six-month grace period and quarterly repayment options of five years.

Farmers, service providers and agricultural corporations can access the modern machinery from international manufacturers—27 companies from China, 10 from Türkiye, five from Italy, and others from Japan, the USA, Brazil, Spain and Belarus—by applying through the online portal.

The implements eligible for the scheme include combine harvesters, multi-crop and rice planters, silage harvesters, irrigation systems, and high-power tractors.

Speaking at the opening, the chief minister said the programme would herald "the start of an agricultural revolution in Punjab," adding that it is a demonstration of the government's commitment to modernising and mechanising the province's agricultural sector.

Additionally, central pivots, irrigation systems, and high-powered tractors are also part of the high-tech agricultural machinery package.
