In an effort to improve user safety, Snapchat has introduced a new feature called "Home Safe." The feature allows users to notify selected friends or family members when they arrive home safely, particularly after outings, long drives, or late-night events.

Integrated with Snapchat’s existing Snap Map functionality, the “Home Safe” feature enables users to set their home location and choose which of their contacts should be notified upon their safe return.

Once activated, the system sends a one-time alert to the selected individuals through the app’s chat interface, confirming the user has arrived home without issues.

Snapchat has claimed that the feature attempts to address the frequent issue of friends and family asking users to confirm that they arrived home safely, especially after a long drive or night out.

How to enable 'Home Safe' on Snapchat

  1. Tap your Bitmoji on Snap Map and then select "My Home" to set your home location.
  2. Open the chat conversation with a friend or friends who you want to alert when you get home.
  3. Tap the map icon and then select the "Home Safe" button.
  4. When you arrive back home, your friend or friends will get a one-time alert in the chat conversation that you've made it home with no problems.

It’s important to note that only contacts you have already shared your location with can receive these alerts.
