In the wake of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC-2025), taking place from November 3 to 6 at the Expo Centre Karachi, the Karachi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan.
The plan includes diversions, alternative routes, and filter points for heavy traffic in key areas such as Karsaz, Millennium Mall, Nipa Chowrangi, New Town, and Liaquatabad.
Frequent commuters in Karachi are advised to follow the provided traffic diversion plan, avoid certain roads and opt for the alternatives given in the plan.
Which roads to avoid in Karachi during PIMEC-2025?
- Karsaz: Heavy vehicles are prohibited from Nursery via Shahrae Faisal towards the stadium. Motorists should use Rashid Minhas Road via Millennium Mall and Nipa.
- Millennium Mall: Heavy vehicles coming from Rashid Minhas Road cannot access Dalmia Road towards the stadium, and traffic is being redirected via Nipa, Askari IV, or Drigh Road.
- Nipa Chowrangi: Heavy traffic flow from Nipa to Hassan Square is blocked, with alternative routes via Nipa-Gulshan Chowrangi-Sohrab Goth or Nipa-Rashid Minhas Road.
- New Town: Traffic will be diverted from Stadium or University Road to Shaheed-e-Millat Road via Baloch pull.
- Liaquatabad No. 10: Incoming heavy vehicles are restricted from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square via Sir Shah Suleman Road, and the recommended route is through Shahrah-e-Pakistan.
Besides the road closures and alternatives mentioned in the plan, diversions will be enforced during peak hours (8am-10am and 3pm-5pm) for vehicles heading towards Stadium Road.
Karachi citizens are advised against parking on main or service roads and are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement, as public cooperation is vital for smooth traffic flow during such events.
