While the frenzy around Apple's recent iPhone 17 series hasn't even settled yet, the rumour mill has started churning out claims about the iPhone 19 lineup, with a fresh report indicating that the iPhone maker might skip iPhone 19 and jump on to launch the iPhone 20 series.
The renaming of the iPhone 19 lineup for 2027 has been speculated by multiple sources, which is said to be in line with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone launched in June 2007.
By jumping to the iPhone 20, TechJuice noted Apple aims to signify a significant milestone in its history, reminiscent of the iPhone X, which broke the traditional naming pattern to highlight its innovative design and technology.
At that time, Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that the iPhone X had “no predecessor product,” marking it as a leap forward. The iPhone 20 could similarly represent another transformative step for the company.
Besides, rumours of a foldable iPhone have also been circulating for years, which was initially speculated to be released in 2026, with the latest reports pointing to 2027 as the new launch timeline for the long-rumoured foldable iPhone.
If the foldable iPhone is introduced under the name of the iPhone 20, it would stand as a symbol of both innovation and the celebration of two decades of the iPhone.
