Petrol price in Pakistan likely to increase by Rs1.32 per litre

Ministry of Finance will make final decision on petroleum prices after consultation with prime minister

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government is rumoured to increase petrol price for the next fortnight starting from August 16 as part of its fuel price adjustment.

The petrol price in Pakistan is expected to hike by Rs1.32 per litre, while the price of diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil is expected to drop.

According to multiple sources, diesel price may decrease by Rs11.75 per litre, kerosene by Rs6.25 per litre, and light diesel by Rs7.11 per litre.

Initial calculations for the reduction in petroleum product prices have been prepared, and a summary will be forwarded to the prime minister for final approval.

The Ministry of Petroleum, in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, will submit the pricing proposal to the prime minister, who will make the final decision on the price changes, which will take effect from August 16.

Previously, the federal government decreased the petrol price in Pakistan by Rs7.54, setting the new price at Rs264.61 per litre from Rs272.15 per litre.
