Given an escalation in cyber attacks across the country, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) are teaming up to protect the digital infrastructure of Pakistan.

The alliance was formally recognised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both institutions involved, formally paving the foundations of a collaboration.

The cooperation is evident that both parties are willing to fight cyber threats together and establish a fortified defence against such predicaments emerging in the landscape of IT.

During the session, the PTA chairman stressed the need to be on the same page to stand tall against efforts aimed at protecting communication networks and national IT infrastructure.

Agreeing with the views expressed by the PTA chairman, NCERT director general Dr Haider Abbas also urged for joint efforts to counter malicious elements posing cyber risks to relevant sectors.

Embarking on a mission to solidify and secure Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, the partnership comes on the heels of Dewan Farooque Motors losing data with its servers crashing following a severe cyber attack.

"We regret to inform you that owing to malware and cyber-attack our IT servers have been crashed and data have been corrupted badly, resulting in postponing the board meeting. Accordingly, you are informed that the board meeting has been postponed till the time of its restoration," read the statement issued by the automaker.
