Meta-owned Threads has introduced a dedicated "media" tab, allowing users to easily access and view photos and videos shared by others.

This update comes on the heels of similar updates from rivals like X (formerly Twitter) and Bluesky, which recently introduced video-focused features.

The announcement came a day after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg disclosed that Threads now has 320 million monthly active users, up from 300 million last month.

Dedicated media tab on Threads

According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the new media tab has addressed a long-standing request from the Threads community.

The feature enables users to quickly browse through all the photos and videos shared by a user, enhancing the overall user experience.

In addition to the media tab, Threads has also introduced the ability to tag people in shared photos.

These updates aim to make Threads a more competitive platform in the social media landscape, particularly against video-first apps like TikTok.

Threads’ recent growth is notable, especially compared to Bluesky, which experienced a growth slowdown in December 2024.

Threads has been witnessing an accelerated rollout of high-in-demand features and updates over the past few weeks, including a post scheduler, custom feeds, and AI-powered summaries.
