Meta could finally be getting ready to natively bring WhatsApp to iPads. The messaging app that has more than two billion users is reportedly developing a native WhatsApp app for iPad users.

At the moment, iPad users access the messaging app via the web version, which does not bring all the full mobile-like features.

A recent post from WhatsApp on its official X (formerly Twitter) account brought new hope. The WhatsApp official account responded with an "eyes" emoji under a post that is months old that said "they should add WhatsApp on iPad".

The "eyes" emoji is usually an indication of interest or attention, indicating maybe it is seeing the light of day.

For years, there have been reports that WhatsApp is working on a native iPad app, but no public version has been available yet.

There was a beta release to some users under Apple's TestFlight programme. If the app was officially launched, it could enable messaging and sending/receiving messages while even the main phone is turned off or not on a network, due to a new "companion mode".

To link a companion device, users will be able to go to Settings > Linked Devices > Link a Device inside WhatsApp.

This feature was found in WhatsApp's beta for iOS 23.19.1.7 and is currently only available to TestFlight beta testers.
