Google-owned video platform YouTube has hinted at a possible removal of Fox channels as it is in talks to renew its content partnership with Fox.
With a new deal on the horizon, Fox is seeking higher payments than the other comparable content providers.
Why Google is dropping Fox content from YouTube?
If an agreement isn’t reached by 5:00pm ET on August 27, channels like Fox Sports, Business, and News will be removed from YouTube TV, YouTube stated in a blog post.
According to Reuters, YouTube is keen to negotiate a fair deal that won't increase costs for subscribers.
If Fox's content becomes unavailable for a long time, YouTube will offer members a $10 credit as compensation.
Fox expressed disappointment, claiming that Google is taking advantage of its significant influence by proposing terms that don’t align with market standards.
They warned users that they might lose access to content unless Google engages in serious negotiations soon.
YouTube TV successfully reached an agreement with Paramount Global earlier this year to keep channels like CBS, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon, after previous negotiations had left the partnership uncertain.
