WhatsApp has released a new update for its macOS app, bringing a useful chat filtering feature that makes it easier for users to manage conversations.

The update, version 25.22.79, is now available on the App Store and adds filters that help users quickly find specific chats without endless scrolling.

WhatsApp's new chat filter features

The new capability has three filters: Unread, Favourites and Groups. These will allow the user to easily switch between chats according to their preference. The Unread filter displays conversations that have unread messages and assists the user with pending chats.

The Favourites option allows users to mark valuable contacts that they want to have at their fingertips, while Groups allows users to view every group in one location. The All filter also returns the user to the default view, showing every account.

In the earlier version of WhatsApp, macOS users had to use a separate button to see their unread messages. Instead, the new update places filter options in a row at the top of the list of chats to make the navigation process smoother.

The latest version of WhatsApp is already out for iOS and Android, and now the Mac app is catching up.

According to WABetaInfo, the rollout is currently available for select users and will roll out more widely in the following weeks. The update is around 21.7MB, and users can update through the App Store.

At the same time, WhatsApp is developing several updates for iOS and Android, including a "Record Voice Message" option for unanswered calls and a "Writing Help" assistant for better texts, also said to be in testing.
