When you're a member of various familial and work-related group chats and there's an outpour of multimedia messages, managing storage gets immensely exhausting on WhatsApp, but the Meta-owned platform will soon address storage issues for active users with a new feature.
Called Manage Storage, the new WhatsApp storage feature allows you to control how much space individual chats occupy.
Currently in beta testing, WhatsApp's new Manage Storage option will be available on the info page of each chat, enabling users to see a grid of shared files organised by size.
With the new storage management feature, users can easily identify and delete large, unnecessary files, including images, videos, and documents.
To make it simpler to manage chat content, the grid will also allow sorting by the date files were shared.
Although WhatsApp already has a global Manage Storage menu in the Settings, this new in-chat option provides easier access to storage management by placing important information directly within each conversation's settings.
The feature is currently limited to a select group of iOS beta users, but is expected to roll out to a wider, general audience soon under a new update.
The new WhatsApp could be particularly beneficial to those in active group chats, where shared files can quickly consume storage space.
