With rising cost of living making it difficult for Pakistanis to afford solar panels, the Sindh government has taken a significant step to protect low-income citizens from high electricity costs, announcing free solar panel systems for consumers using less than 100 electricity units per month.

Who's eligible for Sindh govt's free solar panels

Those interested in getting free solar panels from the government in Sindh are required to abide by the following:

  • Must not have previously received a solar system under any other government scheme
  • Complete an application form and provide their electricity bill and national identity card
  • Get the form verified by Union Council (UC) chairman or a gazetted officer
  • Monthly electricity usage must be below 100 units for the past six months

Deadline for availing free solar panels in Sindh

The deadline for submitting applications to obtain free solar panels in Sindh is 20 August 2025.

It must be noted that the application must be submitted to the Sindh Energy Department's office for the Project of Home Solar System (On-Grid).

With a total of 130,000 families benefitting from solar systems, this initiative is believed to offer a huge relief to the underprivileged segment of society in Pakistan while promoting alternative energy sources.
