The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Friday launched the online nikah registration service in a Union Council (UC) to facilitate citizens across Pakistan.

Nadra said that anyone can now register their nikah in the respective UC through the Pak-ID application. Once it's available on the platform, you can easily download the marriage registration certificate on your smartphone.

The authority noted that initially, the online nikah registration service is available in three districts of Punjab — Chakwal, Jhelum, and Nankana Sahib — as the citizens of 71 UCs of Chakwal, 44 UCs of Jhelum, and 65 UCs of Nankana Sahib can access this service, staying at home.

Earlier on Wednesday, Nadra announced a system upgrade, scheduled on November 2, with an aim to improve its services. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the authority said that online services, including the Pak-ID app, will be impacted from 8am to 8:30am.

Moreover, all Nadra centres in Pakistan will remain closed from 8am to 4pm. This system upgrade is aimed at giving faster, improved, and more efficient services to citizens.
