The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published noteworthy figures regarding local mobile phone production for September 2025, indicating a total assembly of 3.01 million units during the month.
This represents a significant increase of 40% compared to the same month in the previous year and an impressive 55% rise compared to August 2025.
The year-on-year growth can be attributed to a low base effect observed in September 2024, when sales were subdued due to substantial pre-buying in June 2024, as consumers anticipated upcoming budget reforms.
Additionally, the month-on-month increase reflects considerable pent-up consumer demand, as many individuals postponed purchases while awaiting new model releases.
September proved to be an eventful month for the mobile market, distinguished by the introduction of several flagship devices that encouraged consumers to consider upgrading their smartphones.
Leading brands played a pivotal role in driving this momentum. Samsung launched the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 FE, Xiaomi introduced the innovative Redmi 15 series, and Infinix unveiled the exciting Note 40X 5G.
These new offerings not only captured consumer interest but also invigorated market activity as individuals explored the latest technological advancements.
During the first nine months of 2025, local manufacturing and assembly totalled 22.78 million units, reflecting a modest yet positive increase of 1% from the previous year.
Further analysis of these figures shows that 48% of production consisted of 2G phones, amounting to 10.86m units, while smartphones accounted for the remaining 52%, totalling 11.92m units.
Notably, domestic production met an impressive 94% of Pakistan’s mobile phone requirements during this period, underscoring the sector's growing self-sufficiency and independence.
