In a significant step, the Balochistan government, in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, has officially announced plans to launch the “People’s Train Service.”

During a high-level meeting in Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti announced a major step: the “People’s Train Service” will be linked between Saryab and Kuchlak.

This new rail initiative is designed to provide a low-cost, quick, and dependable mode of travel for the local population.

Notably, the implementation will start shortly after finalising discussions on the route.

The Balochistan chief minister vowed to personally supervise each step of the development, making it clear that any form of delay would not be accepted.

To prevent any delay, the provincial government has decided to utilise locomotives and carriages from Pakistan Railways, avoiding imports.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi confirmed that all required rolling stock and facilities would be made available within six months.

In addition, plans were shared for enhancing the current railway infrastructure along the corridor to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Abbasi referred to the People’s Train Service Balochistan as a transformative leap for public transport in the province, focusing on better regional connectivity and daily commuter ease.
