In a bid to broaden its footprint and gain new users to the video game platform, Roblox announced a new short-form video app called Roblox Moments at its developers conference on Friday, alongside a surge in earnings for creators.

The new Roblox video app is said to be designed to leverage the gaming giant's substantial user engagement and grow its user base.

What is Roblox's TikTok-like short video app Roblox Moments?

Roblox Moments is reminiscent of the gloally acclaimed Chinese short-video platform TikTok. The Roblox video app is currently in beta version and allows users to capture, edit, and share snippets of their gameplay, as reported by Reuters.

It's believed that this new platform will help Roblox redirect the billions of views its content receives on platforms like YouTube back to its own site, further enhancing user interaction.

By June 30, Roblox recorded a tremendous count of 111.8 million daily active users on average.

Over the past few years, Roblox has been striving to transform its gaming platform into a one-stop platform for e-commerce, socialising, and advertising, seeking to increase its revenue streams in a competitive market.

Earlier this year, the company launched a new advertising format and partnered with Google to expand its advertising business while also enabling creators to increase their earnings.

Roblox CEO David Baszucki announced an 8.5 uptick in the earnings creators can convert from Robux to real money, disclosing that the creator community has earned over $1 billion in the past year, discounting more than 100 games generating over $1 million each annually.
