The Punjab government on Friday launched 'Mulakat App', a new online platform that will allow families to make advance bookings in the relevant jail to meet the prisoner.
The Punjab Prisons Department has officially issued a notification, confirming that this facility will now be available across all prisons in the province. Under the direction of the Inspector General (IG), the department will establish special centres inside the jail to support the meeting process.
Moreover, the department is directed to place awareness banners at visible spots within the jail premises to inform prisoners about the new service.
How do 'Mulakat App' work?
- Through the 'Mulakat App', citizens will be able to make pre-booking in the relevant jail.
- Bookings can be made after submitting the details and data of the prisoners.
- Once the booking is complete, a message will be sent to your smartphone regarding the time of the meeting.
- At the appointed time, the meeting can be confirmed at the counter.
According to the Punjab Prisons Department, the project was started as a pilot programme from Camp Jail last year. After its success, the 'Mulakat App' was launched across Punjab. This app aims to save time, eliminating bribery.
