A new era of motorsport has begun in the UAE with the launch of the EAV-25, the world's first fully autonomous AI-powered Formula One car.

Designed by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in Abu Dhabi, the futuristic race car has stunned the global motorsport community and captured the attention of Pakistan’s racing and tech enthusiasts alike.

UAE's first AI-powered F1 car

The EAV-25 is an astonishing $25 million, significantly above the normal price of $12-15 million for a typical F1 car. The car is visually unique because of its hammerhead shark-inspired front and T-shaped nose, which is where visuals end, and the car becomes groundbreaking with its AI and edge computing technologies.

The car drives itself, using sensors, machine learning, and algorithms to make instant decisions during the race, all powered with petrol (not electricity) and bypasses the need for a human driver.

According to Group 63, Vice President Sultan Al Ali, the EAV-25 conducts over a million calculations per second to find the fastest lines in the race and knows when to overtake.

Khalid Al Mulla, President of Group 63, mentioned it can go up to 370 km/h, making it quicker than most/outperforming several conventional F1 race cars.

The EAV-25 is currently on display at the Evolve Future Mobility Show in Sharjah. Next month, there will be 22 AI and driverless race cars in the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League competing at the Yas Marina Circuit on November 15, with a prize pool of $2.25 million.
