Despite overwhelming advancement in internet technologies and their widespread expansion, we rarely get to see free WiFi service in Pakistan, but that's going to change in Islamabad, as the federal capital is set to obtain free WiFi at 30 renowned locations.

The impending provision of free WiFi on some renowned sites in Islamabad was shared with the National Assembly on Tuesday.

When will Islamabad get free WiFi service?

The free WiFi service is expected to start in Islamabad by December 30, 2025, as reported by TechJuice.

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Raza Naqvi disclosed the initiative in a written reply to MNA Ibrar Ahmad. He said the project would improve digital access and add to the convenience of the public.

To serve the digital cause, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is working with the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) to deliver the project on time.

The interior minister added that the plan is in line with the prime minister's vision of a digitally connected Pakistan.

Initially, 30 sites in Islamabad will embrace the free WiFi service. These sites include public transport stations, parks, hospitals, and commercial hubs.
