With the next fortnightly price adjustment nearby, the federal government is expected to increase petroleum prices from November 1, with the expected hike ranging from 2.35 to 2.50 per litre.

According to industry sources, these adjustments at the refinery level are due to cumulative global oil prices and the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee.

Upon the approval by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Finance, in consultation with Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), will announce the new prices on October 31.

If approved, the new petroleum prices will impact household budgets, particularly for low- and middle-income families who are already struggling with record-high inflation.
